Gender’s Role on Street Giraffe
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
NVC Friends,
I am becoming more and more aware of how cultural gender norms play into using NVC and what types of language, facial expressions, mannerisms one feels comfortable enough with to use in real life.
I am going to try to get someone more qualified than I am to be a part of this discussion. It may require them “remoting” in from another area to speak with us.
If I can’t get someone to do that, then I’ll figure something else out and get busy reading and learning. AND…we can brainstorm together what might work for different genders.
I don’t have the exact plan ready yet, but I know that I (and hopefully you) will get something out of this challenging yet important topic.
I’ll send out my address the day before the actual meeting. It will be held in my apartment which is near Scottsdale Road and Curry Road in north Tempe. I generally keep it a little on the warm side in my apartment because I don’t like taking more fossil fuels out of the ground and warming our planet. So, please dress appropriately.
People who are new to NVC: please start reading or listening to anything by Marshall Rosenberg. He also has many YouTube videos if you haven’t yet bought his main book called Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life.
Looking forward!
Patricia

NVC Practice Session
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Hello NVC Group!
The last practice group session was very rewarding for me. Let’s do it again.
We’ll meet and practice going through our own real-life scenarios that perhaps warrant some NVC. We’ll go through the 4-part process and possibly use some other NVC tools if necessary.
I’ll lead you through a writing exercise first and then those people who want help with or just to share their scenario can share with the group. The group can then pitch in with NVC feeling and need guesses to help the person identify those things.
You don’t have to share what you write but if you want to share it to get feedback from the group, you can.
Please bring a needs and a feelings list, a pad of paper, and a writing utensil.
Needs list: https://www.cnvc.org/Training/needs-inventory
Feelings list: https://www.cnvc.org/sites/default/files/feelings_inventory_0.pdf
I look forward to seeing you there!
Patricia

NVC Game Creation
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
Hello!
This meetup will be FUN!
Let’s be creative and try to brainstorm and maybe create an NVC game. Your wildest and most off-the-wall ideas are welcome! This could take a few different sessions to complete and a mini project plan to actually make it once we’ve settled on an idea. However, we could play the game at future meetings when we are feeling like we need more fun.
At this game creation meetup, we can practice saying “Yes, and…” to other peoples’ ideas (see earlier “Yes, and…” NVC meetup for why this is useful in NVC https://www.meetup.com/phxnvc/events/260373191/).
I’ll send out my address once you sign up and before the actual meeting. It will be held in my apartment which is near Scottsdale Road and Curry Road in north Tempe.
I’d love it for you to attend. People who are new to NVC: please start reading or listening to anything by Marshall Rosenberg. He also has many YouTube videos if you haven’t yet bought his main book called Nonviolent Communication, A Language of Life.
